Gabrielle Chardigny is a Berlin-based French artist who explores the complex relationship between man, industry, and nature. By creating an interaction between industrialized and natural materials, she questions the inconsistencies of human actions in the plant world and society's dysfunction, and reveals the reality of an increasingly vulnerable world.
Gabrielle explored the area that she called the "Garbage Store" and collected unsorted/non-recycled garbage for her assemblage. One key component of these materials is the thin line between what we consider man-made and natural, such as metals that we deem unnatural or waste once they are processed and used. Her collection was also an attempt to understand the land and connect, its history of mining and agriculture while narrating a new story. Later, she installed these pieces in the abandoned farmhouse nearby.
